The LP1502 controller is the LNL-X2220 and the MR52 reader interface is the LNL-1320. (S1) The steps are the same in OnGuard 7.x and 8.x. OnGuard 8.3 adds Mercury M-Series and IP client connections.
Add the access panel
Flag- Open Access Panels. In System Administration, go to Access Control > Access Panels.
- Pick the panel type and click Add. Use LNL-X2220 for a Mercury LP1502, or LNL-2220 for an EP1502. (S1)
- Fill the Location tab. Name the panel for its location, check Online, and enter the controller's IP address as the primary connection.
| Field | Set to |
|---|---|
| Panel type | LNL-X2220 (Mercury LP1502) (S1) |
| Online | Checked |
| Primary connection | IP address of the LP1502 |
Add Reader 1 on the MR52
FlagIn OnGuard the MR52 is the reader Type LNL-1320, not a separate device. (S1) Both readers share the board's address and differ by Reader Number.
- Go to Access Control > Readers and Doors and click Add.
- Set Type to LNL-1320 (Dual Interface). That is the MR52. (S1)
- Enter the port, the address and Reader Number 1. The address matches the DIP switches on the MR52. (S2)
- Set the reader output and card format. Match the reader's protocol (OSDP or Wiegand) and the card format on the site's badges. (S2)
| Field | Set to |
|---|---|
| Type | LNL-1320 (Dual Interface) = MR52 (S1) |
| Address | The MR52 DIP switch address (S2) |
| Reader Number | 1 |
| Output | OSDP or Wiegand, matching the reader (S2) |
| Card format | The format on the site's badges |

Strike time and held-open time are entered in seconds.
Add Reader 2
Flag- In Readers and Doors, click Add again.
- Use the same LNL-1320 address with Reader Number 2.
- Pair it with Reader 1 so both readers control one door.
Map door contact, REX and strike
FlagThe LNL-1320 has door contact supervision, a REX input and a strike output on each door. (S2)
| Field | Set to |
|---|---|
| Door contact | LNL-1320 door contact input (S2) |
| REX | LNL-1320 REX input (S2) |
| Strike relay | LNL-1320 strike output (S2) |
Create the timezone and access level

- Go to Access Levels. Make an access level that includes the new entry and exit readers.
- Assign the level to a test badge.
Download and test in Alarm Monitoring
Flag- Download the panel from Alarm Monitoring > System Status.
- Use Open Door(s) to fire the strike.
- Present the test badge and confirm access granted on both readers.
- Press the REX and confirm it releases the strike without a Door Forced alarm.
- Hold the door past the held-open time and confirm the Door Held alarm.
- MR52 DIP address matches the Address field
- MR52 baud matches the panel downstream port

FAQs
How do you add an MR52 in OnGuard?
The MR52 is not its own object in OnGuard. Add it as reader Type LNL-1320 on Readers and Doors. The LP1502 is the LNL-X2220 and the EP1502 is the LNL-2220. (S1)
Why will a Mercury-branded board not come online?
Mercury-branded boards can be blocked by the OnGuard license OEM mask. OnGuard expects LNL-branded boards.
