What do Fire-Lite MS-9200UDLS trouble messages mean and how do I clear them
On the Fire-Lite MS-9200UDLS a trouble shows TROUBL on the LCD with the device type, the adjective and noun you programmed, the trouble description and the device address. Press Acknowledge/Step to silence the piezo, fix the cause the description points to (OPEN, SHORT, INVREP, DIRTY1, INV ID and so on), and the trouble clears on its own: the panel auto-restores cleared troubles and goes back to System All Normal.
Steps
From: MS-9200UDLS Series manual, pp. 135-137
- Read the whole displayLine 1 is the event type (TROUBL) and the device type such as SMOKE (PHOTO), HEAT, MONITOR or CONTROL. Line 2 is the adjective and noun you programmed for the point. Line 3 is the trouble description.
- Read the address on line 4After the time and date comes the device address. In 1D001, 1 is the SLC loop, D means detector and 001 is the device address.
- Silence the panelPress Acknowledge/Step (or Alarm Silence). The pulsing piezo stops and the Trouble LED goes from flashing to steady. One press acknowledges every active trouble at once.
- Match the description to a causeOPEN is an open circuit, SHORT is a shorted circuit, INVREP is an invalid reply (a hardware or communication problem in the device), TEST F is a failed automatic test, INV ID is the wrong type programmed for the installed device.
- Check the LEDs for panel-level troublesThe Ground LED flashes for a ground fault (zero impedance to ground), the Battery LED flashes for low battery voltage, and the Disabled LED flashes when a zone, NAC, detector or module is disabled in programming.
- Fix the causeAt the address shown: repair the wiring for OPEN or SHORT, clean or replace a detector for DIRTY1 or DIRTY2, or correct the programmed type code for INV ID.
- Let it restoreWhen the condition clears the panel sends a clear trouble message to history. With no other troubles, supervisory or fire conditions active it returns to System All Normal. Auto-restore clears troubles even if they were never acknowledged.

Common mistakes
From: MS-9200UDLS Series manual, pp. 135-137
- Pressing Alarm Silence with only troubles active acts like Acknowledge/Step but also lights the Alarm Silenced LED. That is normal.
- A ground fault turns on the Ground LED as well as the trouble message. Isolate the wiring causing it before you connect a printer or PC.
- BLOCK and ALIGN on a beam detector mean the beam is totally blocked or the detector is in alignment mode, not that the head is bad.
