How to run the Go/No Go test on a VISTA-20P

Updated Source: K5305-1V10 Rev ASource: K5305-1V10 Rev A

Run the VISTA-20P Go/No Go Test before you permanently mount wireless transmitters: enter the installer code + [#] + 4, fault each transmitter at its planned location and listen for three keypad beeps with the zone number. Move any transmitter that doesn't beep, then exit with a user code + OFF.

Steps

  1. Enroll the transmitters first with *56 or *58 Zone Programming, then place each one at its proposed mounting location without fastening it down. (VISTA-20P/15P Installation and Setup Guide, p. 15)
  2. If the transmitter uses screw terminals, connect roughly the length of wire you will run to the sensor so the test reflects the final installation. (VISTA-20P/15P Installation and Setup Guide, p. 30)
  3. From a keypad in the partition being tested, enter the installer code + [#] + 4 to start Go/No Go Test mode. On a multi-partition system, repeat the test for each partition. (VISTA-20P/15P Installation and Setup Guide, p. 30)
  4. Fault each transmitter in turn. Keep your hand from wrapping around the transmitter while you do it, since that causes inaccurate results. (VISTA-20P/15P Installation and Setup Guide, p. 30)
  5. Listen at the keypad: three beeps and the zone number on the display mean the signal was received with enough margin. (VISTA-20P/15P Installation and Setup Guide, p. 30)
  6. If the keypad does not beep, reorient the transmitter or move it to another spot. A few inches in either direction is usually all it takes. Fault it again. (VISTA-20P/15P Installation and Setup Guide, p. 30)
  7. When every transmitter gives the proper keypad response, permanently mount each one according to the instructions packed with it. (VISTA-20P/15P Installation and Setup Guide, p. 30)
  8. Exit Go/No Go Test mode with any partition-specific user code + OFF (1). (VISTA-20P/15P Installation and Setup Guide, p. 30)(VISTA-20P/15P Quick Installation Guide, p. 1)

Worked example

Checking a door contact enrolled on zone 10 before mounting it:

  • Tape the contact to the door frame, then enter 4112 [#] 4 at the partition 1 keypad
  • Open the door: the keypad beeps 3 times and shows 10, so the location passes
  • No beep: rotate the contact or shift it a few inches and open the door again
  • All zones pass: mount them, then enter the user code + 1 (OFF) to exit
