Most low-voltage sub work comes to you one of two ways: a marketplace posts a work order you accept, or an integrator signs you to a master subcontract and sends work orders under it. Marketplaces pay after the buyer approves your closeout (S1, S8). Integrators often pay 60 days out or only after their customer pays them (S16, S17, S18).

How sub work flows

  1. Sign up or get invited. Marketplaces take an online profile, W-9 and COI. ServiceChannel networks start with an invite from the customer. (S11, S15)
  2. Sign the agreement. Integrators use a master subcontract or work order terms. Showing up to the job can count as acceptance. (S17)
  3. Accept the work order. Read scope, site, pay and due date before you accept. You can counter-offer on some marketplaces. (S11, S10)
  4. Do the work and close it out. Check in, upload photos and deliverables, then mark it complete. (S8, S7)
  5. Invoice and get paid. The payment clock starts at approval or invoice, not at the end of your shift. (S11, S14)
